Running into problems with electronics can be frustrating, to say the least. It doesn’t matter what type of appliance you’re operating, there’s a slight risk of a malfunction. If the malfunction is caused by you, time, or the manufacturers is hard to tell – the only thing we can do is to figure out what to do to solve it.
I’ve used various air fryers from different brands over the years and I’ve only had them display two error codes – E1 and E2, which I believe is short for “Error 1” and “Error 2”.
When these codes were displayed and the air fryer stopped cooking, the first thing I considered was that I had done something wrong. It wasn’t until later when I came in contact with customer support that I understood that I wasn’t the problem. To help others who may run into the same problem, I did some research on the topic.
Why does my air fryer say E1? When an air fryer is displaying the E1 or Error 1 code, the air fryer has run into internal, electrical problems which may be temporary or permanent. Get in contact with customer support as soon as possible and ask them to replace your appliance if it doesn’t start once it has cooled down.
To give more specific details one would need to know what brand and model we’re dealing with.
As you can see down below, the meaning of the code isn’t the same for all brands.
What the E1 Code Means On Different Air Fryer Models
According to their respective instruction manuals, this is the meaning of the E1 code:
- Gourmia Air Fryers E1 Code: No pan or the pan isn’t suitable
- SOLUTION: When showing error signal E1, E2 and E7, please check whether the cookware is not suitable, or switch the appliance on again after it has naturally cooled down.
- Power Air Fryer E1 Code: Broken circuit of the thermal sensor
- SOLUTION: Call customer service
- Nuwave Brio Air Fryer E1 Code: Sensor open ended
- SOLUTION: Contact customer service
- Master Culinary Air Fryer E1 Code: System Malfunction
- SOLUTION: Contact customer service
- GoWise Air Fryer E1 Code: Sensor open ended
- SOLUTION: Contact customer service
- Cook’s Essential Air Fryer E1 Code: Broken circuit of the sensor
- SOLUTION: Unplug the unit, let it cool completely, and then restart.
As you can see, the meaning of the e1 error code varies between brands. Some air fryers flash when they display the e1 code, others don’t. There’s a slight difference between them but we know for sure that there’s something going on when an air fryer displays the e1 message.
If you’re having problems with your air fryer, try to take care of them as quickly as possible. Most air fryers come with a 12-month long warranty. The sooner you contact customer support, the quicker you can get your new air fryer or replacement parts.
I got in contact with the company that manufactures the Power XL air fryer and told them about the problems I had run into with my air fryer. The person I spoke to said that the air fryer had to be replaced. Short thereafter, I received a sparkling new air fryer, and it was flawless.
Other Reasons Why an Air Fryer Doesn’t Start
Starting with the most common and easiest to fix
- The power cord isn’t plugged in the socket properly: Reinsert the plug with a firm push until it’s all the way in.
- The circuit for that outlet isn’t working: Check to see if that specific outlet works when you plug in other electronics. There’s a chance that the air fryer works just fine but the socket doesn’t.
- The connection cord is damaged: If the cord or the connection it sticks to inside the air fryer are damaged, either replace the appliance or take it to a repair shop.
- The air fryer is malfunctioning: If your air fryer doesn’t start at all, no matter what. Then the unit has most likely stopped working and must be replaced.
